as many ppl know brutal queer antagonist legislation has recently been passed by the ugandan government, after long lobbying by euro-american evangelicals. a number of queer activists in uganda need support in relocating to safer places within the country where they are not known and will be less at risk of attack. i kinda know one of the uk based ppl coordinating this campaign and can vouch for its integrity and urgency. please give what u can and share

you can’t ignore hozier’s anticolonialism angle in his music, his music is so so tied to his land and his people, a land and people who were (and still are in the north!) victims of coloniziation by england, who had their language and culture and society and religion erased and foribly replaced, you need to remember that when you’re analyzing the politics of his songs.
Eat Your Young isn’t just about the modern exploitation of young folks, it is referencing A Modest Proposal, a satirical piece from the famine that proposed fixing the famine via the selling and eating of irish catholic children. This is about cycles, this is about colonialism, this is about oppression and exploitation and greed and suffering and power, it’s incredibly irish don’t erase that, okay?
